Client: Gannon Properties Year:
Phase 1: 2003
Phase 2: 2008
Consultant: Moylan Consulting Engineers Value: € 9,150,000
Description:

Phase 1:

Construction of a large scale surface car park at Dublin Airport catering for 3,500 vehicles, incorporating pay stations and toll building, over an area of approximately 100,000m2.  Works involved and extensive tie in with the existing Airport Road and an extensive traffic management plan was put in place to minimise the amount of disruption to this busy road.  Other works included all associated drainage, flood lighting and boundary treatments.

Phase 2:

In order to cater for the high volumes of public using this facility a second phase was constructed to accommodate an additional 2,700 spaces and upgrade the existing toll station area.  Phase 2 works were carried out whilst the initial phase was fully operational, and access was only available to phase 2 from phase 1. Traffic Management Plan including design of safe pedestrian access walkways was put in place in order to ensure that safety of general public was not compromised by construction traffic.

Constant liaison with the Client and Car Park Operator was crucial for the construction of Phase 2 in order to minimise the amount of disruption caused to the public and maintain the maximum revenue for Phase 1 parking.
